Search for stock photos, using specific words or combinations of words. You may use arbitrary Boolean expressions. The text search engine will display a weighted list of matching documents, with better matches shown first. A brief explanation (click) of the query language is available below, along with examples. Simply hit the "back" button of your browser to return to the list of images.

 WHY TEXT SEARCH ?

The reason for using a text search is that it is possible to locate highly specific images in that subject area, before starting to look at the actual photos. A short descriptive caption is provided so you can easily research and find a collection of pictures in the subject area that you are looking for. Then it's easy to view a selection of targeted photos. Another reason a text search is used rather than showing actual photos: the time factor. A text description of several pictures load much faster than the pictures itself. Through your targeted text search it should be easier to locate 'content-specific' photos.

 QUERY LANGUAGE

The text search engine allows queries to be formed from arbitrary Boolean expressions containing the keywords AND, OR, and NOT, and grouped with parentheses. For example:

information retrieval

finds documents containing 'information' or 'retrieval'

information or retrieval

same as above

information and retrieval

finds documents containing both 'information' and 'retrieval'

information not retrieval

finds documents containing 'information' but not 'retrieval'

(information not retrieval) and WAIS

finds documents containing 'WAIS', plus 'information' but not 'retrieval'

finds documents containing words starting with 'web'
